Our Memorial Day weekend

We went to Snowflake on Friday to go to Rayla's graduation. The first two pictures are to show you what we have to drive through every time we go to Snowflake. Salt River Canyon is so beautiful, but it gives me major anxiety every time we drive through. It's not very comforting when you can see several cars down the cliffs. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures, they were taken from inside the van. Here's the bridge at the bottom.

Gotta love all those switchbacks!?!
We spent Saturday and Sunday at mom and dad's. Saturday we went on a double date with them to see the new "Indiana Jones" movie... it was great! We had a cook-out that night with the Lunt's and the missionaries. Sunday we just went to Church and then had a nice Sunday dinner with all the family.
We went to Scott & Beth's Memorial Day, and had a barbeque. It was nice to just "hang out" and visit with family. They were irrigating that day and as you can see, the kids had a great time playing in the water!

Kirstie was specifically told NOT to get into the water...so guess what she did?

BUSY Thursday!

This Thursday was a VERY busy (and windy) day! We started the day by going to Kirstie's Kindergarten graduation at 9 a.m. It was very short and sweet, just the way I like it!

Kirstie before graduation...
...Recieving her diploma......a VERY excited 1st grader! This is Kirstie with her teacher, Mrs. Brubaker. I made a little "Thank you" book for her, that I had the students from both classes finish the sentence "I love Mrs. Brubaker because..." it was so much fun. She is such a great teacher and the kids really love her! They said the CUTEST things!! It must be great having your own little fan club!

This is Jennah with her teacher Mrs. J. I feel bad that this is the only picture I got with the two of them. It was incredibly windy that day, and on top of that, they were planning on having a water party, so Mr. J. wasn't looking her best that day. Hopefully she'll never see this =). She is such an awesome teacher, I'm so glad that Jennah got to be in her class!
This is Jennah's class performing "The three little pigs". Stevie apperantly wanted to get in on the action! (Jennah is the one in the green shirt)
After Kirstie's graduation, the kids went to another student's house for a water party. It was a BLAST, despite the wind! One of the parents was sitting next to the slide to help supervise, and I guess Stevie decided that she needed to be wet too. He grabbed one of the "guns" attached to the slide and aimed right for her. I was so embarrased...it was one of those moments where you want to just say "I don't know WHO his parents are", but I claimed him anyway. It all happened so fast that I didn't have time to stop him (or take any pictures)! At least everyone got a good laugh...especially Stevie=)Jennah and Kirstie
Later that day, we went to my neice Marissa's Jr. high graduation, and then to end the evening, we went to my nephew Josh's High School graduation....Whew... what a long day!

A strange game of ball and a school concert

My girls do the funniest things...
They absolutely HATED t-ball, but Friday, when Jennah had a friend over, I caught them outside playing this... ...baseball in tu-tu's. What will they think of next?!?

The elementary school concert was last Wednesday night. The music teacher (very wisely) had the students sit with their families when their part was over. When they had the final number, they just sang from where they were sitting. It was a good thing they did, because as you will see, we would not have gotten very good pictures of their performance.
Kirstie singing her little heart out!

Love the expression on her face?!?

One great disadvantage of having tall children, is that when they stand together as a group, they always get put toward the back. We could barely see Jennah. I helped you out a little by putting a little red arrow over her head=)

This is Jennah waiting for her classes turn to go on stage. Jennah LOVES LOVES LOVES to read! Notice the other children behind her visiting? I love the expression on her friends face...I wish I knew what she was thinking!

Kirstie pounding away on the drums! Those little kindergartners are sooooo cute!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone who reads this had a great mother's day! I think that next to my 1st mother's day, this has probably been one of the best. My children behaved really well, and at this age, that's pretty much all I can ask for. Steve finally caved and got me some "chick flicks". So I told the girls that were going to have a "girls night" and watch all these movies. Kirstie gave me a little bookmark that she made at school. Jennah made a potholder and a card for me at school. The card she gave me has four flowers with "I will ____ today" She told me each day I get to pick a new flower. It will be interesting to see if she still wants to do the things for me now that mother's day is over. Well, I have this problem of falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, but then I will wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. So here I am...blogging away. Well, when I got up, I found that Steve had cleaned up the kitchen for me! Honestly, aside from children behaving, that is the best mother's day gift I could ask for.

All the material gifts are great... but my mom put it the best. When I called her to wish her a happy mother's day, I apologized for giving her only a card. She told me that the best gift was knowing she had her children. She didn't need any fancy gifts. I am so grateful for such a wonderful mom! She never really has to tell us she loves us. You know the old saying..."Actions speak louder than words"... my mom lives it. I know that all my brother's and sisters would agree that my mom would do ANYTHING for her children.

...the best gifts I EVER received...Jennah, Kirstie, and Steven!

Feels like summer

I got sick of looking at that creepy bug so I just had to do a new post with some cute pictures! A few minutes ago, Stevie informed me that the trampoline was "smokin' hot". Then he asked if he could put water on it. I was always a HUGE fan of jumping on the wet trampoline, so of course I said YES...but put your swimsuit on first. The weather here is just beautiful today!

My "beautiful" Kirstie.

This picture was taken a while back, but I was so impressed by the work that Steve did to fix this swing, that I just had to post this. The seat of the swing used to be a blue canvas, but we woke up one morning to find that George found a new chew toy. So Steve finally fixed it and the kids just love it... & I love being married to such a handy-man!

Stevie just loves having his picture taken!

strange things here...

found this in the kids tub this morning...anyone out there know what it is? It has at least 26 really long legs. I say it's a mutant centipede. Kirstie took it to school for show-and-tell this morning, the first time she's ever wanted to do show-and-tell. Maybe that's why this thing appeared at our house, so Kirstie could get up the courage to go in front of her class. Maybe someone there will know.

George is an EVIL dog!

Don't get me wrong, I love George. He is a very affectionate dog. It's just that it seems that he is determined to make my life miserable. Remember my post about planting flowers? Well, the flowers were doing okay until we went on vacation. We came home to this...
The dang dog is a vegetarian!!! There was no trace of the flowers anywhere! He had to have eaten them. Kirstie is the only one who really pays attention to him, poor thing. When we tell all three kids that they need to take better care of him or we'll find him a new home, they all give out a loud NOOOOOO! The only joy he has in life, (because we had him neutered), is playing with the kids. Not only did he eat the flowers, but when we had our garden last year, he ate at least 20 watermelon, (only one survived long enough for us to eat) and who knows how many cantaloupe, or how much corn. At least he left the zucchini and cucumbers alone. Maybe it was because they weren't shaped like balls. If there are any dog-owners out there who know how to keep a dog from eating plants, PLEASE let me know...I'm all ears!
